Note to Self

Lavender:
Long-time favorite of herb enthusiasts.  Attractive plant has fragrant purple flowers and aromatic leaves that can be used fresh or dried.  Edible flowers.  Perennial in Zones 6-9.  If limited for gardening space, try a deep winter dowsill container or 3 gallon container for your herbs.

Days to Germinate:  15-20
Depth to Sow:  1/4 - 1/2 in.
Plant Spacing:  12 in.
Plant Height:  16-24 in.
Type:  Perennial

Sow:
seeds indoors any time of year.  Plant outdoors after the last frost in a sunny garden with well drained soil, or grow in a container.  Prune regularly to promote bushy growth.  In cold  climates, bring indoors in fall grow in a sunny window.

Garden Hints:
To dry, collect flowering stems in summer.  Tie together at the base and hang bunches upside down in a warm, airy, shaded location.
