Tybee Island Lighthouse

Stop by to Tybee Island Lighthouse this weekend from our way back home.
We got there on time to enjoy the scenery and shop at the local market.
Purchased some handmade jewelry and original watercolor painting.  We also grabbed homemade Kimchi and flavored walnuts.

Was suppose to see my auntie and uncle in Jacksonville and totally missed everyone.  I’m still thankful I seen mom.  And it was a nice brake.

Loved our stay at Wyndham Hotel.  It was wayyyyy more affordable than staying by the beach.  I did wanted to visit a local museum but they were closed due to Columbus Day.

A Delightful Stop at Tybee Island: Lighthouses, Local Art, and Amazing Seafood

On our way home from Jacksonville, FL, we decided to make a spontaneous stop at Tybee Island — and I’m so glad we did! The first thing on our list was to visit the famous Tybee Island Light Station & Museum. It’s always such a picture-perfect spot, but today felt extra special.

When we pulled up, we were greeted by a lively outdoor market. What a lovely surprise! Vendors had set up tents all around the lighthouse, selling handmade goods, tasty treats, and all kinds of treasures. I ended up buying a beautiful watercolor painting from a local artist — I love supporting small, independent creatives like that. Then, we sampled some delicious flavored pecans from one of the food stalls. They were so good, we grabbed a couple of bags to take home for snacking.

Of course, we had to snap a few photos with the lighthouse before heading out. Its iconic black-and-white tower against the blue sky never disappoints.

By then we’d worked up an appetite, so we headed down the street to The Crab Shack — one of our all-time favorites. No trip to Tybee Island is complete without their famous seafood platter. It was just as tasty as we remembered: shrimp, crab, oysters, all perfectly cooked and full of flavor.

Our quick visit to Tybee was the perfect detour. From the charming market and friendly vendors to the stunning lighthouse and incredible seafood, it was a beautiful little slice of coastal Georgia that added a whole lot of joy to our trip home.

A Weekend Getaway to Jacksonville: Shopping, Good Food, and no love from family

Sometimes a quick trip is just what you need for a change of scenery. Recently, we decided to head down to Jacksonville, FL for a weekend visit — and although things didn’t go quite as planned, we still had a nice time making the most of it.

We stayed at the Wyndham Garden Hotel, which was a bit different from our usual choice but super affordable at about $70 a night. It was a cozy and comfortable spot to rest after a long day of exploring, and honestly, that’s all we really needed.

The next morning, we grabbed breakfast at Another Broken Egg Café. It was such a tasty way to start the day — you can never go wrong with a good breakfast! Then we hit up IKEA — a must-do for me since we don’t have one in Macon — and browsed some of the other retail shops around town. It felt so good to do a bit of shopping, and I treated myself to a few new clothes.

That evening, we wrapped up our day with dinner at LongHorn Steakhouse. Even though they’re famous for their steaks, I decided to try the salmon and shrimp combo. Let me tell you — it was delicious, especially after all that walking and shopping!

The main reason for this trip was to see my aunt, uncle, and their family who had come all the way from Seattle, WA. But unfortunately, we missed each other due to a bit of miscommunication. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed — I truly wished we could have caught up — but I’m choosing to focus on the positive memories we did make.

All in all, Jacksonville gave us a cozy hotel stay, good food, a little retail therapy, and some sunshine, and that’s more than enough to be thankful for. Hopefully, we’ll catch up with my relatives next time they’re on this coast.
