Grief has a way of sneaking up on you, sometimes when you least expect it. That’s what happened to me recently when I stumbled across old photos of my sweet pitbull, Princess. It stopped me in my tracks. The rush of memories, the sound of her paws, the way she used to look at me — it all came flooding back.
Princess wasn’t just a dog. She was family. She was my loyal companion, my protector, my comfort on hard days. Her beautiful blue and white coat made her stand out, but it was her gentle heart that truly made her unforgettable. She had a way of leaning into you when you needed her most, as if she knew — as if she always knew.
Losing her left a hole in my world. Even now, just seeing her photos brings me to tears, but they also bring a soft smile. I remember her zoomies around the yard, her favorite sunny spots, and how she always made sure to be right by my side.
Grief is love with nowhere to go, and while my heart still aches, I’m grateful for the time we had. I’m grateful for the years of love and loyalty she gave so freely.
Princess, you will always be my girl. Always missed. Always loved.
If you’ve ever lost a pet, I hope you find comfort in your memories too. They truly never leave us — they live on in the photos, in the quiet moments, and in the lasting imprint they leave on our hearts.
