There’s something sacred about stillness, especially when it’s your own stillness, captured with intention. Today, I decided to step into my backyard not just to soak in the sunlight, but to create a moment. A moment with myself. A moment wrapped in elegance.
I wore my favorite blue and gold kaftan. The fabric flowed like water over my skin, light, regal, and effortless. The gold caught the sunlight just enough to shimmer without showing off. And my long black hair? It draped down my back like a silk ribbon, bold and unapologetic, contrasting beautifully against the deep hues of the kaftan.
With nothing but my tripod, a quiet breeze, and the trees as my witnesses, I began to take self-portraits. I didn’t pose so much as I allowed myself to just be. Some shots caught me mid-laugh, some with my eyes closed as if in meditation, and others where I stood tall, owning every strand of hair, every thread of fabric, every inch of me.
It felt like I was documenting not just my style, but my spirit. The backyard became my studio, my runway, my sanctuary. And in that simple act of pressing the shutter, I was reminded: I don’t need an occasion to celebrate my presence. I am the occasion.
