The Backyard I Miss: A Beautiful Tree and My Geodesic Dome

I came across these old photos from March 2016, and they immediately brought me back to a place I deeply miss — my old backyard. It wasn’t just a yard; it was a wide, open space where life unfolded quietly, beautifully.

One of my proudest little projects there was this metal conduit 2V geodesic dome that I built myself. It may not have been perfect, but I remember the satisfaction of piecing it together, measuring, cutting, and seeing it finally stand. It was my hands creating something real, something that stood there in that space I loved.

But the part I miss the most is that beautiful, blossoming tree. In these photos, it’s in full bloom — delicate white flowers covering every branch like a soft blanket of spring. That tree was the heart of the yard. It offered shade, beauty, and a quiet kind of peace that you don’t appreciate until it’s gone.

Looking back now, I realize how lucky I was to have that space, that time, those simple moments. It was a place where I could build, dream, and just be. The yard was wide, the tree was grand, and life felt a little slower there.

Sometimes we don’t realize how much we’ll miss something until we leave it behind. These photos remind me of that — to cherish the spaces, the trees, the projects, and the quiet mornings we too often overlook.
