Edible flowers in your backyard.

My daughter made bake potatoes, garnished with sourcream and bacon.  I wanted to make it more healthier by foraging in the backyard and snip bit from my vegetable garden.  So here's what I added.  I added 3 kinds of flowers, cilantro flowers, spiderwort flowers and dandelions.  I also added some bay leaves and cilantro leaves.

not your typical bake potato.
It's true what they say that there is a huge difference in taste between store bought herbs to growing your own herbs.  The taste is so much better and healthier for your.

Price hike on Walmart groceries food

Is there stopping it?  Prices are not getting slash or slice as Walmart advertises.  It's actually getting pricier. Am I the only one that notices how food pricing are climbing to the roof.

Here's an example.

last year split peas and lentils were under $1.  It's April and they have gone up about 50%, that's crazy!

Anyone else notices.  Send me some pix for proof.

What happen when you get a bicycle?

you get to Krispy Kreme much faster.

my fear of riding a bike is slowly diminishing.  Some people ride bikes for health reason.  I ride it to get me to Krispy Kreme donuts faster.  lol!

New bicycle from Cherry Street Cycle

It was an impulse buy.  But I really did want a bicycle.  and instead of buying my 3rd bike from Walmart again, today I decided to buy something I can actually ride.  Here are the reason why I opt for Cherry St Cycle.
  1. I wanted a good bike
  2. A bike I can ride up hill
  3. A professional input
What did I get?  I actually got more than I bargain for.  my budget was $300 bucks.  I walked out the store with a $350.00 bicycle.  They did had to order it.  It wasn't in stock.  The owner reassured me it will be in in a few days.  and it did.  I was measured for the bicycle.  It was put together by the pros of Cherry St Cycles.  and they even offered a beginner's ride.  But I didn't have a helmet.

I have to say this.  I LOVE MY FREAKING BIKE.  None of the Walmart bikes I bought was able to carry my fat ass going up hill.  This bike, omg! I can now ride up hill.  Seriously that is just amazing to me.  It rides smooth and comfortable.  and it's smaller and lighter than my Walmart bikes.

The make and model of my new bike is Raleigh Ventura.

Here are the  accessories I need and want.
  • Rear Rack
  • Front Rack
  • Front basket
  • Panniers
  • Helmet
Here are the accessories that I bought so far from ebay and waiting for them to arrive:
  • Water bottle holder
  • Bell ringer
  • flash light holder
  • kickstand
waiting for the bus.
and it was the first time I load a bike on the bus rack.  It was scary.  I kept thinking the whole ride that it was going to fall off.  But it didn't.

Update:  May 4th, 2015

I really wanted a basket.  But no money to spare.  So I got creative.  I have this extra plastic basket from the Dollar Tree.  With a couple of shower rings it was an instant bicycle basket.
I love it.

But I am never satisfied.  (lol) So I changed my basket to another Dollar Tree basket.  Check out the video below.

Bigger basket from Dollar Tree

I even crochet some pocket for my cell phone and things.

Another Update
Below as you can see, the mirror arrived and the bell.
and I forgot I got this camera mount and so I stalled that also.
The bell and mirror I got from ebay.  The mirror is wortless and useless.  I'm removing that shit tomorrow.

Frugal vegetable garden

I feel like I'm really experimenting with my garden.  First of all, I lack transportation to visit stores to grab things I need for the garden such as soil.  Public transportation or city bus is really my only means of transport at the moment.  But I refused to let that stop me from growing my own veggie.  I failed at composting.  I've been trying to compost since winter and no luck there.  I just have plenty of wet winter leaves.  I am trying anyway.

My soil where my garden is located is very sandy.  I went ahead and transplanted the following:

  • Tomatoes
  • Green beans
  • peas
  • cucumbers
  • squash
  • bay leaves
  • cilantro
I want to see how well they will grow for me.  I'm not buying any fertilizers or any kind of chemicals for the garden.

I will use:

  • the leaves I've collected during the winter season
  • humus - from a tree that composted into mulch - will also use this for mulch - to bring in organic to the soil
  • plenty of harvested rain water and tap water
  • egg shells and epson salt for the tomato plants
  • my urine mixed with rain water for nitrogen - a natural and organic fetilizer.

Five days ago, I wasn't seeing any growth.  Then the rain began.  It has been raining atleast every other day for the past week.  and I am seeing the differences in the garden.
Right now, I have hope.

as you can probably see the pentagon shape.  That's because my veggie garden is inside a 1V geodesic dome.  It is made out of 1/2 inch metal conduit.  Each struts are about 5ft in length.  The ends are flattened and holes are drilled through them.  Nuts and bolts to put this 5 sided geodesic dome together.  I used chicken wire to fence the garden, to keep my dogs away.  I also used the chicken wire as tomato stands.  I used garden staples to hold them in place.

Lunch at Roasted Cafe in downtown Macon

I've been passing by this place for about a year now and I've been meaning to stop by and try their breakfast.  But never happened.  So I finally tried them for lunch.  I chose a sandwich called "The Usual".  I meant to tell them to use hoagie bread but my sandwich arrived in this crispy delicious croissant.  I was surprised, the freaking sandwich was actually good.  Good enough to come back.  I think I got used to being disappointed or just plainly getting boring sandwich.  So the goodness of the sandwich literally took me by surprised.  So check them out people.  Cause you know I will complain if their sandwich or service sucks.

3-31-2015 Veggie Garden Update

Here are some photos that I took on March 31 of the experimental veggie garden.

I think these cucumbers or squash
The leaves are yellowing and are not looking so good.  So I took them off this Dollar Tree container and transplanted them on the ground.

Suprisingly the cilantro are easy to grow and are not picky at all.  They seems to be flourishing in this Dollar Tree hanging basket.  and that's bay leaves or basil.  I think.

Here's a tomato plant, cage up using chicken wire.  See that tea candle light.  That was for the other day, when the night dip to 29 degrees.

Here are some of the plants that I transplanted to this sandy soil.
I'm planning on adding humus on top.  Hopefully that will help this sandy soil.
But I think this sandy soil is good for these baby plants because it's easier for their new growing roots to really dig in.

Peas are looking good but they seems to be taking their time growing and so as the green beans below.

more baby tomato plants seedlings.

here's another greenbean plant

I gave these few more days in their cup before hitting the ground.

more peas and tomatoes growing.

How to add good vibes to your house or home

Here's something I love to do.  Specially at the dawn of spring.  I clean my house.  The kitchen, bathroom, living room and bedroom.  After a good cleaning or quick cleaning, I burn frankincense and myrrh on a charcoal and while and in the middle of the burning, I add few drops of egyptian scented oil.  I walk my tin can container with this stuff around the house.  and feels the house with this ancient smells and it brings my mood to calmness.  It is best done in the morning after cleaning.  and your house will greet visitors with warm of frankincense and myrrh.

I keep my charcoal in a jar from the Dollar Tree
and my Frankincense and Myrrh in re-purpose used glass jar.

Late lunch at Wendy's

Yes, folks, I am as normal as the rest of you.  I eat at Wendy's.  I am not a vegan or vegetarian but I felt the need to eat a bit healthy and I tried one of Wendy's salad.  I am impressed.  The salad was so good, I ate the entire plate.  Had me craving for more.  This is definitely going to help me stay away from them burgers.
